# How do we run a 4-week nutrition challenge at work?

> Run a 4-week nutrition challenge for staff with Nutrola at $7 per participant, with a minimum of 10. Teams of 5 or more get weekly totals, and staff pay nothing.

Updated: 2026-11-04

## In short

- **$7 per participant** (or €7 for European organizations), with a minimum of 10 participants, covers 4 weeks of Nutrola Premium plus 1 free setup week.
- **5 people** is the minimum for a team to get its own weekly totals, and smaller teams count only toward the whole-group total.
- **Weekly email totals** show counts and averages for the group or for each team, never anyone's meals, photos, weight or body measurements.
- **Score teams on logging habits**, not weight, because Nutrola never gives an organizer anyone's weight.
- **Nothing to cancel and nothing charged** after the challenge ends, and the group can move to 12-month licenses if you want to keep going.

To run a 4-week nutrition challenge at work, give your staff Nutrola Premium for the four weeks: your organization pays, staff never pay or enter card details, and you get team totals by email every week. As of November 2026 it costs $7 per participant (minimum 10), with a free setup week before the start. Form teams of at least 5 people and score them on logging habits, not weight.

## Which app can staff use without paying?

The app is Nutrola, and your organization pays for it. Nutrola is an AI calorie counter and food diary for iPhone and Android, available in 20 languages. Nutrola Premium includes meal logging by photo, barcode or voice, personal calorie and macro goals, water, fasting, exercise and weight tracking, a recipe library, and sync with Apple Health and Google Health Connect.

Each person downloads Nutrola from the App Store or Google Play and signs up with the email address on your list. There is nothing for your organization to install or connect.

## How do we set up teams?

Form teams of at least 5 people if you want weekly totals for each team. A team with fewer than 5 people counts only toward the whole-group total, which covers everyone on the list.

- Use departments or work groups if they are easier to run.
- Decide the teams before you send the list.
- Add each person's team to the list you send, for example as a column in the spreadsheet.

## What does the challenge cost?

The challenge costs $7 per participant (one person on your list), or €7 for European organizations, with a minimum of 10 participants. The smallest challenge is therefore $70, or €70.

| Item | Details |
|---|---|
| Price | $7 or €7 per participant |
| Extra participants | $7 or €7 each |
| Someone drops out | Their place can go to someone else at no cost |
| After the challenge | Access ends on its own. Nothing to cancel, nothing charged. |

Pay the invoice by card or bank transfer, and government purchase cards are accepted. The invoice comes from Monorra LLC, the company that makes Nutrola. For 12-month licenses instead, see [how much Nutrola costs for a team](https://business.nutrola.app/guides/how-much-nutrola-costs-for-a-team/).

## How do we run the challenge week by week?

The challenge has one free setup week, four challenge weeks, and a finish that needs no action from you.

1. **Before setup week:** Request a quote, then send your list of email addresses and pay the invoice at least one business day before setup week. Premium turns on within one business day of receiving both.
2. **Setup week (free):** Each person downloads Nutrola, signs up with the email on your list, and logs a few meals to get comfortable.
3. **Week 1:** The challenge starts. Your first weekly totals arrive by email after the week.
4. **Week 2:** Share the totals with your group, keeping the focus on logging habits.
5. **Week 3:** Check how each team is doing, and keep everyone on track.
6. **Week 4:** The last challenge week. Weekly totals keep arriving by email.
7. **The finish:** Access ends on its own after the challenge. Nothing to cancel and nothing charged.
8. **After the challenge:** People can subscribe in the app themselves, or you can move the group to 12-month licenses. The challenge works as a pilot, a small test run before you buy licenses.

## What do HR and the organizer see?

The organizer sees group totals only, never anyone's meals, photos, weight, body measurements, activity or account details, even on request.

Each weekly email shows these four figures for the whole group, or for each team of at least 5 people:

- How many people are on the list
- How many activated, meaning Premium is on for their listed email
- How many were active
- The average number of days with at least one logged meal

This table is an example only. The numbers are an illustration, and the team names are placeholders.

| Team | On the list | Activated | Active | Average days with a logged meal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Team 1 | 6 | 6 | 5 | 5.2 |
| Team 2 | 7 | 6 | 4 | 3.9 |
| Team 3 | 5 | 4 | 3 | 2.8 |

There is no in-app leaderboard and no admin dashboard. Totals arrive by email, and you share them however you like. Nutrola does not sell health data or use it for advertising, and anyone can delete their account and data in the app at any time. ## How should we score the challenge fairly?

Score teams on logging habits, using the three ideas below.

- **Most consistent team:** the highest average days with a logged meal.
- **Most active team:** the highest share of its people on the list who were active.
- **Group target:** a goal the whole group agrees on before the start, such as a set number of logged days each week.

Use averages and shares, not raw counts, so bigger teams do not win by size.

## Why score habits instead of weight?

Habits make a fairer and more private basis for a workplace challenge than weight does.

- **Privacy:** Nutrola never gives an organizer anyone's weight, so a weight contest would ask people to share it with colleagues.
- **Fairness:** People start at different weights, so a weight score rewards starting point more than effort.
- **No health claims:** Nutrola is a nutrition and calorie tracking app. It is not a medical device and gives no medical advice, so the challenge measures logging, not health results.

Tell people up front that the organizer only sees totals, and make joining voluntary.

## Why not free apps or a shared spreadsheet?

Free apps and a shared spreadsheet both leave the setup, the collecting and the chasing to you. A spreadsheet means people type their own numbers, colleagues can see each other's entries, and someone has to chase updates every week. With the challenge, nobody types numbers into a shared file, and the organizer gets weekly totals by email.

## Quick answers

### Does the organization need to install anything or connect a system?

No. Nothing needs to be installed or connected, and there is no admin dashboard. Access works by email address, and there is no single sign-on (SSO), which lets one company login open many apps.

### Can we add people or replace someone who drops out?

Yes. Extra participants cost $7 or €7 each, and if someone drops out, their place can go to someone else at no cost.

### Do staff need a payment card or a subscription of their own?

No. Nobody on the list pays or enters card details, because the organization pays the invoice.

### Is the challenge a medical program?

No. Nutrola is a nutrition and calorie tracking app, not a medical device, and it gives no medical advice.
